Sth about ads on TV

       I believe you have heard about the incident that happened recently. In China the program Youth With You Season 3 has been told to stop recording and to apologize for its actions. According to the media, the program and its sponsor used some inappropriate ways to sell the produces which led to a waste of food. The last time this  happened was during the economic crisis in the 1930s. Therefore I believe that the advertisements in the TV shows should be banned.

       First of all, advertisements are already filling our lives. We see it everywhere, and it brings about a certain tiredness to people because many of them are alike. They all have bright colors, big letters and in some cases celebrities to catch our attention. When a lot of these ads are around, customers often fail to notice anything, and the producers will try harder to catch their attention and eventually lead to a tiredness of the mind. There are commercial breaks on almost every TV channel, including educational ones. In 2018, an educational program watched by almost every student in China apologized for its 15-minute-long ad. It led to an argument among parents about whether ads should be banned. In a show that lasts for an hour, advertisements in it usually take up about 10 minutes of it, not to mention the product placement that exist in almost every minute of the show. I know that the shows rely on the sponsors and their ads, but if they don’t stop this kind of advertising, they are going to lose a lot of viewers and eventually fail to reach everyone’s expectation.

       A second reason is that some ads in the programs don’t always make sense. For example, there may be an advertisement about a game that “gives you all the best things in it once you log in”, but if you did log in, the game will make you send their ad to your friend a number of times to go on doing whet you want to do. It is considered a form of fooling the customers. Some advertisements are inappropriate for children. Also there is something interesting about ads: on many video sights, they tell you to get a VIP to close the ads. Most of the ads on these sites are about cars or houses. So I sometimes think that if I can afford houses or cars, why won’t I get a VIP?

       I hope that the internet and reality can do something about the advertisements in TV programs. I believe that everyone has the right to choose what they want to see in the programs. If the shows don’t do anything about it, they are going to lose a lot of viewers and eventually die out.
